Include drawings, scope boundaries, finish references and installation responsibilities. Completed residential projects document cabinetry and built-ins; they do not establish experience for every commercial scope.

Discuss your project scope

Commercial casework in an existing San Francisco interior requires a different release plan from a clear new-build space. Walls may be out of square, services may move and dimensions may change after demolition. The practical question is which assemblies can be measured and approved now, and which must wait for verified conditions.

Separate existing conditions from design assumptions

Mark what will remain, what will be removed and what the project team has not yet verified. Record wall and floor conditions, ceiling heights, door clearances and access to equipment. Identify any field dimension that depends on demolition or work by another trade.

Do not release affected cabinets from an unverified dimension simply to hold a provisional delivery date. Assign a person and milestone for each outstanding measurement and record the drawing revision that incorporates it.

Define the replacement casework package

List the cabinets, panels and built-ins by location, including quantities, visible ends, fillers, scribes, hardware and finish direction. Distinguish new work from reused components. Confirm transitions to retained flooring, counters, walls and adjacent cabinetry; an existing finish may not match a new sample.

Coordinate appliance and equipment dimensions, lighting, outlets, plumbing and access panels with the responsible trades. The casework drawings should identify these interfaces without implying that the fabricator is contracted to perform all adjacent work.

Plan occupied-space work and delivery

Where the premises remain in use, have the project team identify access windows, separation of work areas, protection, storage and delivery sequencing. Establish whether complete areas or smaller groups of assemblies will be released. Confirm unloading and movement routes at the actual address before deciding how large assemblies can be delivered.

Document who prepares substrates and who confirms that each area is ready. Delivery, installation and reopening are separate milestones; the date for one does not establish the others.

Approve finishes and control discoveries

Use samples to confirm material, finish, grain direction and acceptable variation. Review edges and hardware against the intended use and maintenance needs. Shop drawings should show door and drawer operation, reveals, end conditions and the interfaces with retained construction.

If demolition exposes a different condition, record the change, revised detail and cost or schedule effect before fabrication continues. Keep approved revisions consistent across the designer, contractor, fabricator and installation team.

Release only the work that is ready

For each phase, confirm field dimensions, drawing approval, material and hardware availability, site access and adjacent-trade readiness. Track long-lead items and open selections explicitly. Establish who handles punch-list work and closeout.

What Millwork USA can review

Millwork USA is based in Morgan Hill, California. Send the drawings and scope for a project-specific review of cabinetry and architectural millwork, fabrication, delivery and coordination requirements. See the capabilities at millwork-usa.com/capabilities and the regional service at millwork-usa.com/millwork-bay-area.

The completed Encino Residence in Los Angeles shows residential kitchen cabinetry and built-ins: millwork-usa.com/projects/los-angeles. It is evidence of that residential work, not a claim that Millwork USA has completed your type of commercial facility. Request relevant construction details and confirm suitability for your own specification.

Installation requiring a contractor's license is performed under a separate agreement by appropriately licensed independent contractors. Identify responsibility for field verification, site preparation, installation and adjacent trades in the proposal. No commercial completion date is established by a kitchen-production example.

Send a package for review

Send the project location, intended use, plans and elevations, assembly quantities, finish and hardware references, target timing and the latest drawing revision. Identify open selections, site constraints and who can approve the scope. For an early-stage project, send what you have and identify what is still missing.

Send drawings at millwork-usa.com/project-proposal or begin a scope discussion at millwork-usa.com/request-project-review. A review establishes scope and next steps; it is not a promise of price, production availability or acceptance before the documents have been reviewed.
