Send drawings for a proposalView completed Berkeley workA wall-panel change can affect more than the panel named in a field conversation. Moving an opening may change joint spacing, adjoining pieces, finish continuity or electrical interfaces. For a San Jose paneling package, keep a written change record connected to the approved elevation so the owner, design team, contractor and fabricator are working from the same decision.
Establish the baseline before evaluating a change
Identify the approved drawing revision, panel layout, finish reference and scope inclusions. Give walls and individual panels stable identifiers where the package requires them. Without that baseline, a revised elevation cannot reliably explain which work is new and which was already included.
The design team should distinguish a correction needed to meet the agreed design from a new design request. The contractual treatment needs review by the responsible parties; the change log should not decide entitlement by label alone.
Write a complete change entry
Record the affected wall, existing detail, proposed detail, reason, requester and approval authority. Attach a marked elevation or revised detail. Identify related openings, returns, reveals and adjacent finishes that need review. A photograph can explain a field condition, but it should not silently become the fabrication drawing.
For example, a relocated device opening requires review of the affected panel and surrounding layout. Whether a piece can be modified or must be replaced depends on its actual construction, finish and production status. Do not assume the same remedy for every location.
Check every repeated location
Builders and developers should identify whether a revised detail applies to one wall, one room type or an entire repeated package. List the affected quantities and release groups explicitly. Approving a first-of-type revision does not automatically authorize changes to pieces already made or delivered.
Ask the fabricator to identify affected work that has not started, is in process or is complete. This makes the potential cost and schedule consequences visible before an instruction is issued.
Separate approval from release
Obtain the required design decision and agreement on scope, price and timing through the project's authorized process. Mark affected fabrication as held until its release conditions are satisfied. Unaffected work may proceed only when its independence has been confirmed.
After approval, distribute the current revision, withdraw superseded production information and update the change register. Include any credits for deleted work rather than recording additions alone.
