For a San Jose project, organize the work around a panel map, verified interfaces and an agreed installation sequence. The visual design and the supporting construction need to be resolved together, not independently at opposite ends of the process.
Define the panel map
Identify each wall, panel position, joint, return and opening on the drawings. Record the intended grain or pattern direction where relevant. Show transitions to doors, ceilings, flooring and other finishes. A panel number should connect the drawing, production information and delivery label.
Ask the design team which alignments are essential to the appearance and how acceptable natural material variation will be reviewed. A finish sample and a layout approval answer different questions; retain both references.
Verify the receiving conditions
Have the responsible project professionals confirm the substrates, backing, fixing approach and required access. Coordinate device openings and other penetrations with the relevant trades before affected panels are made. Do not select a generic fixing detail without considering the actual assembly and site conditions.
The field survey should record dimensions needed for the agreed layout and identify surfaces that are not yet ready to measure. Resolve discrepancies with the drawing team rather than allowing an unrecorded site assumption to become a production instruction.
Release a controlled set
Connect the approved panel layout, final dimensions, material specification and finish reference to one release revision. Mark unresolved panels as held. If the package is phased, check whether adjoining groups share a visual sequence or material requirement before treating them as independent.
Agree how labels and packaging will preserve panel identity through transport. Record any handling or storage requirements supplied for the specified materials and finishes.
Prepare the installation handoff
Confirm access, protected staging, receiving responsibility and readiness of preceding trades before delivery. The installer needs the same current panel map used for production, together with applicable installation information. Work requiring a contractor's license is performed under a separate agreement by appropriately licensed independent contractors.
Check delivered pieces against the package list and record damage or discrepancies before installation proceeds on affected items. At completion, document alignment, finish issues and outstanding corrections against the agreed references rather than relying on memory.
